Freezer warming up or building excessive frost?

Protecting frozen food starts with understanding the fault. Note the temperature, whether the compressor runs and whether the problem began after a power interruption. Avoid repeated door openings while arranging service.

What to tell us about the problem

Temperature rises despite a running appliance

A warm cabinet can involve airflow, door sealing, defrost operation or the cooling system. Tell us whether all shelves are affected and whether the refrigerator section of a combined unit is also warming.

Thick frost or ice around the door

Record where frost appears before clearing it. A damaged gasket, an obstructed vent or a defrost fault can produce different patterns. Do not chip ice with sharp tools.

Chest and upright freezer access

Send the model label and a photograph of the installation. Mention a garage, basement stairs or a tightly enclosed cabinet so the visit can be planned.

Keep a temperature record

Record the displayed or thermometer temperature and when it changed. Food safety depends on actual temperature and time; an appliance repair does not establish whether food is safe.
